Abstract: The work formulates multi-rate, power-controlled, collision-free scheduling in spatial TDMA wireless mesh networks as a mathematical program that exploits cross-layer information. Since the resulting mixed integer linear programs are NP-hard, optimal collision-free schedules can only be obtained for very small topologies. Approximation algorithms based on linear programming relaxation and randomized rounding are therefore developed and analyzed. The framework targets maximizing spatial timeslot reuse subject to predefined SINR thresholds and is suitable for centralized scheduling in the mesh mode of IEEE 802.16.
