Abstract: Highlights•We define the local cumulative coherence.•We present the sufficient condition in the form of local cumulative coherence for OMP and BPDN algorithms.•We propose a majorization-minimization based algorithm for projection matrix design to reduce local cumulative coherence.•Using the designed projection matrix, medical image sequence can be recovered from its compressive measurement.
