Abstract:

The purpose of this article is to discuss an important challenge faced in ``real life'' when trying to implement \emph{group} fairness-aware models and algorithms.
Here, we focus specifically on the role that uncertainty and ambiguity play and revisit the case where protected attributes are only partially observable.
