Abstract: Highlights•Mini-YOLOv4-tiny, an improved lightweight object detector based on YOLOv4-tiny.•We cut the width of the last convolutional layers for model compression and speedup.•Increase performance by switching to Mish activation function and parameters tuning.•New Spatial Pyramid Pooling module with a small number of Floating Point Operations.•MS-COCO: with fewer parameters, our method improves the average precision by 2.8%.
