Abstract: Highlights•Developed a real-time image encryption system for securing sensitive agricultural data.•Leveraged edge computing for fast and cost-effective encryption of agricultural images.•Demonstrated strong resistance to different attacks with high MSE, NPCR, and UACI metrics.•Compared performance of Jetson Nano and Jetson Xavier NX for real-time applications.•Jetson Xavier NX outperforms Jetson Nano with faster processing times by 0.0268 s.
