Branching the limits: Robust 3D tree reconstruction from incomplete laser point clouds

Abstract: Highlights•A method is proposed for detailed reconstruction of trees based on incomplete laser point clouds.•A multi-level B-spline fitting method is employed for fitting tree trunk structures.•A morphological constraint method is employed for the seamless merging of tree branches at different hierarchical levels.•The algorithm demonstrates excellent reconstruction results on tree point clouds of varying complexity.
