Explaining Sentinel 2-based dNBR and RdNBR variability with reference data from the bird's eye (UAS) perspective
Abstract: Highlights•Pre- and postfire UAS data were used to explain Sentinel-2-based dNBR values.•Consumed canopy cover is the main driver of variability in the dNBR values.•Cast shadows from dead trees may have a notable influence on dNBR.•UAS data enables a better understanding the meaning of common satellite products such as dNBR.
