Abstract: Internet of Thing (IoT) industry lacks an open standard for manufacturers and application designers to develop their products without considering the compatibility of different systems. In Taiwan, Taiwan Smart Energy Industry Association (TaiSEIA) defines an interconnection protocol for smart appliances called TaiSEIA 101. Since this standard is an application layer protocol, we address the problem of choosing a suitable underlying wireless protocol. We propose the design of a TaiSEIA 101 testbed, WITSE. We also evaluate the performance of TaiSEIA 101 on top of several wireless protocols by using our testbed. Therefore, we contribute a reference design of TaiSEIA 101 testbed and suggest suitable wireless protocols for TaiSEIA 101.
