Abstract: This paper describes how professors could apply lean thinking and industrial experience to their careers. There is also a survey of the usefulness of this method after professors read this paper. The entire paper is divided into two parts, with the first part covering the author’s opinions and the second part covering the survey result. The novel idea presented in the first part combines lean thinking, the author’s academic and industrial experience to optimize the professors’ career development process. This paper should be of interest to university professors and postdocs. Students who are in graduate programs will also benefit from learning how their professors think.
