Abstract: As an attractive option for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, generalized space shift keying (GSSK) is greatly affected by the Hamming distance of spatial vectors. In this letter, a new scheme called hash function-assisted GSSK (H-GSSK) is proposed. More concretely, the proposed scheme uses a hash function to generate spatial vectors with enlarged Hamming distance. In addition, the analyses of the average Hamming distance, detection complexity, and design complexity are conducted to evaluate the overall system performance. Besides, obtained Monte Carlo simulation results demonstrate the proposed H-GSSK scheme enables a low bit error rate (BER) and comparable complexity as that of existing schemes.
