Abstract: Bases of complex exponentials are widely used in many areas of mathematics and engineering, yet their existence and construction remain relatively underexplored. Notably, the existence of exponential bases for finite unions of intervals was established only in 2015 by Kozma and Nitzan. In this talk, we discuss some partial results aimed at establishing the existence of hierarchically structured exponential bases. This work is based on collaborations with Andrei Caragea, Romanos Malikiosis, Goetz Pfander, and David Walnut.
