Short Summary: This contribution shows how scaffolded data exploration projects can foster students’ data literacy and epistemic agency. Using the Use-Modify-Create framework and the PPDAC cycle, two teaching modules are presented: one with CODAP for analyzing youth media survey data, and another with Jupyter Notebooks for exploring environmental data. While CODAP offers accessible, hands-on data interaction, Jupyter Notebooks require worked examples as scaffolds. Both approaches enable learners to progressively adopt and adapt data moves, culminating in their own inquiry-based projects that integrate mathematics and computer science education.
