Multi-focus image fusion based on multiscale fuzzy quality assessment

Abstract: Highlights•A multi-focus image fusion method based on multiscale fuzzy quality assessment is proposed. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time of the multiscale fuzzy quality applied in image fusion.•The proposed method extracts features by detecting pixel information at different scales to effectively enhance the reliability and robustness of image fusion and obtain images with superior visual effects and richer content.•The experimental results obtained from two challenging publicly available datasets confirmed the superiority of the proposed method in terms of subjective and objective performance over the state-of-the-art methods.
