Abstract: Highlights•Individual differences in working memory function tested with many load levels (6).•Brain-behavior relationships found in focal lateral prefrontal cortex (LPFC) region.•Additional relationships with resting-state functional connectivity of LPFC.•Effects were predictive (cross-validated) and generalizable (out-of-sample test).•Individual differences effects were most robust at highest load levels.
