SCANED: Siamese collateral assessment network for evaluation of collaterals from ischemic damage

Abstract: Highlights•Collateral evaluation is performed from ischemic damage identified from tissue degeneration in non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) imaging.•The study developed a computer-aided deep learning-based approach using Siamese network for collateral evaluation in ischemic stroke without the need for manual extraction of radiomic features.•Given the rarity of large ischemic stroke datasets, Siamese network offered a novel avenue for accurate collateral assessment, capitalizing on their ability to effectively generalize from limited labeled data.•The computer-aided method overcomes the inter and intra-rater variability which can further help determine treatment strategy in the clinical settings.
