Abstract: Highlights•In Umeå, relocating stations can reduce the median response time 80-100 seconds.•The one-by-one approach performs better than the all-together approach.•Local data can be used to find better positions cheaper but with a lower accuracy.•The smooth-based method is less sensitive to the starting position.
