Abstract: Introduction : There is a shortage of dermatologists worldwide. The average in one in 60000. This becomes more severe in rural areas and in parts of the world such as Sub-Saharian Africa, the number falls to 10 dermatologists for countries of several tens of millions. Material and Methods: Teledermatology has been around for quite a while and has been implemented at the Regional Dermatology Training Center in Moshi, Tanzania 2 decades ago. We live in a data rich environment and thanks to an excellent network coverage in Tanzania it becomes possible to use AI techniques integrated with Teledermatology for decision support. Discussion: Although AI still remains a subject of research, it is hoped that it will help HCPs in the clinical setting when safeguards are in place to progressively implement it. This presentation aims to present in simple words how can be used in Dermatology in resource poor areas and suggest a potential research project.
