Abstract: With the rapid development of mobile peer-to-peer networks (MP2P) and the diversification of users’ demand, routing mechanism has become an important research focus in MP2P. Because of the characteristic of self-organization, Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) has been widely applied in designing routing mechanism in various networks. In ant routing protocols, the node routes by perceiving the pheromone in networks and deposits pheromone to direct the subsequent routing. In this paper, the relationship between ACO and routing protocols in MP2P is discussed, and some representative ant routing protocols are chosen to compare and analyze to get the general ant routing principles. Then a generalized ant routing mechanism framework is proposed, and a corresponding ant routing protocol as the generalized solution is produced and its performance is shown through simulation experiments.
