Abstract: The manufacturing economy of Zimbabwe has been significantly affected by political, social and economic pressures. The absence of a comprehensive industrial policy has resulted in the manufacturing economy, as a subset of the economy of Zimbabwe, faltering and in the present day, struggling to achieve meaningful capacity utilisation and sustainable growth.
This paper presents proposals on how to address some of the critical factors that have contributed to the decline of manufacturing in Zimbabwe and set out metrics for the sustainable development of the country’s manufacturing economy into the foreseeable future.
