Abstract: Highlights•In this paper, we propose an application and grid computing nodes workload aware scheduling algorithm (AWAS).•AWAS optimizes grid loads using greedy and heuristic methods.•This paper parallelizes the scheduling process of AWAS to improve its efficiency.•The experiment results show that the AWAS can achieve workload balancing in China National Grid.
