Simulation as Experience to Enhance Three Types of Skills

Abstract: Enhancing skills is one of the main reasons for the use of simulation. This chapter of the SCS M&S Body of Knowledge looks mainly at training. The use of simulators, often referred to as virtual simulation, is described and followed by the use of constructive simulation systems, where all relevant entities of interests are simulated. Examples from the defense sector are given, but also health care and emergency management. Finally, a section describes the various options of live simulation, where trainees with their operational equipment are stimulated by simulated inputs.
