ABFIA: A hybrid algorithm based on artificial bee colony and Fibonacci indicator algorithm

Abstract: Highlights•A novel hybrid metaheuristic method named ABFIA is proposed.•The global exploration of the Fibonacci indicator algorithm (FIA) is improved.•The local exploitation of the artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC) is improved.•The ABC algorithm is hybridized with the FIA.•The performance of ABFIA is tested over several well-known Benchmark functions.•Benchmark functions are unimodal, multimodal, shifted, rotated and complex.•ABFIA outperforms ABC and FIA over different benchmark functions.•ABFIA outperforms prominent ABC extensions over different benchmark functions.
